Consulting

Roberto is currently involved in several design, engineering and programming projects, including acoustics, installations, hardware design, plug-in development, software and automata and robotics.

Acoustics

Roberto Osorio-Goenaga is involved in the design and consultancy for acoustics treatment of new projects, as well as for those projects in the process of rennovation. His academic background is solidly founded on the scientific understanding of sound, including acoustics research at the physics level. He is also well-versed in CAD using VectorWorks software.

A/V Design and Installations

Design and implementation of audio and video systems for many types of artistic and corporate environments, including museum installations, conference rooms, high-end home audio and video systems, recording studio design, systems automation, CAD and technology consulting.

Hardware Design

Concept, design and implementation of hardware control surfaces utilizing Microchip PIC microcontrollers and MIDI programming via C/C++. His current project is called the MGC-1 (Modular Gestural Control 1), and involves the control of MIDI parameters via real-world physics sensors.

Plug-in Development

Design and authoring of Steinberg VST technology for the creation of third-party plug-ins applying digital signal processing (DSP) to hosting applications in Mac and Windows platforms.

Software

Involved in the creation of new, innovative software for audio utilizing mostly open-source architectures in Mac, Windows, and GNU platforms in several programming languages.

Automata and Robotics

Involved in several projects which apply control and DSP protocols to hardware for autonomous musical and otherwise artistic creation, such as LEMUR. Roberto was involved in the first all-automated presentation of George Antheil's Ballet Mecanique at the National Gallery for the Arts in Washington, D.C. Other installations Roberto has been involved with include the Ill-tempered Clangier at the 3-legged Dog in Lower Manhattan and Robots Rock! at the Schenectady Museum, Schenectady, NY.

Here are some pictures from the closing of Ballet Mecanique in Washington, D.C.

Roberto is currently project manager for HydroBot, one of LEMUR's latest creations.
